The main focus during the season should be the games as a lot of energy is expanded from those. Baseball games can include high speeds, higher forces, and a lot of repetitive motions - all can lead to overtraining and injuries. Let's focus more on helping our young athletes compete better by training in-season better.
Here are 4 things you can do to help improve your baseball training prior to or during your season:

SPEED MECHANICS TRAINING
Give some time to speed mechanics training this in-season. This will include running the bases and while on defense. Even 2-3 training sessions per month could help with this. A good speed coach can ensure you are moving at your best during the baseball season.
Action Step: contact your nearest and best speed coach and go over an in-season plan geared on helping your young athlete move more efficiently and faster during their games.
SPEED TRAINING WITH GLOVE
This is for anyone wanting help while on defense, especially in-fielders and out-fielders. Once speed without a glove is established, add speed training with a glove. Speed can go down once a glove is added because this is another level of skill. Train this skill either on your own or with a qualified coach who can help.
Action Step: depending on which position you play, see about adding speed training for this season by contacting a good speed coach. They could even go to your field and train our entire team.
STRENGTH MAINTENANCE
With the games being the most important part of this baseball season, strength training should not be very extensive. The goal for the season is to maintain strength and power. This can be done by warming up properly, with lighter loads, and then incorporating a lower volume strength and power routine that includes upper/lower/and core/rotation training.
Action Step: get a hold of your nearest strength coach to go over a good strength training maintenance plan this baseball season....this could include as few as 1-2 full body strength training sessions per week.
INJURY PREVENTION / HEALING
The repetitive actions used during a baseball season can lead to an injury that does not heal well if you keep playing through it. There can also be non-repetitive actions that cause an injury in baseball, just like any sport. So having a plan in case something does not feel right is always nice. MAT involves assessing to find out where there are muscular related weaknesses and they activates those limited areas so its a perfect way to help during this baseball season.
Action Step: Muscle Activation Techniques is probably the best way to help a young baseball player heal better and faster so they can just play well
