WHAT TO DO WHEN PERFORMANCE DECLINES

WHAT TO DO WHEN PERFORMANCE DECLINES

As an athlete, performance must be optimal.  So what do we do when performance (strength levels, power or speed levels, or overall energy levels) goes down? This article will go over exactly what to do when the athlete is aware of reduced performance. Here is a 3 things that can be done during unwanted decreased performance: For youth athlete training or help with an injury, please click HERE or contact Will at Will@truetraining.pro DOWNLOAD WEEK Overtraining could very well be the cause of the reduced performance.  When you train too much and there is not enough recovery to adapt to this new stimulus of the training, there will absolutely be a reduction in performance.   So reducing training volume will help with this a lot.   Action Step:   reduce overall training volume by 50% for the entire week...this includes the set, reps, and overall intensity of the workouts...you can also reduce the training days done during this download week.   MUSCLE ACTIVATION TECHNIQUES When performance goes down, it most likely is also caused by reduced muscle function.   Due to stress, trauma, overuse, and disuse - muscle contractile capabilities can be reduced.  If muscle contraction is reduced, performance goes down.  MAT will help the athlete a lot by increasing muscle function up to whatever the athlete is capable of and performance will be regained.   Action Step:    contact your nearest MAT specialist and go over your reduced performance symptoms  SLEEP BETTER / EAT BETTER If not enough recovery from the workouts, practices, or games.......performance will go down.   So recovery is just as important as the training.  This includes sleeping enough instead of staying up and eating for performance instead of eating for pleasure.    Action Step:   have a goal of sleeping 8-9 hours each night PLUS eating a whole food plant based diet with lean meats as part of 2-3 of those meals....reducing all processed foods will help too If you have any questions or would like to set up an appointment, please click HERE or contact me at Will@truetraining.pro  Will Mieding  M.S., CSCS, RTS, MAT Rx 1227 Sagamore Parkway North Suite A 765-230-3770 www.truetraining.pro
