BENEFITS OF SUMMER TRAINING

BENEFITS OF SUMMER TRAINING

Its time to focus on what we need to do now in order to have a better Fall / Winter sport season.    A lot can be done and improvements can be made right now if you condition your body, add speed, and heal injuries now.   Here are some ways you can make athletic improvements this Summer: For youth athlete training or help with an injury, please click HERE or contact Will at Will@truetraining.pro BODY CONDITIONING / INJURY PREVENTION The main thing to work on now is conditioning your body to tolerate the upcoming movements and forces made in the upcoming sport season.  This means working on the sport motions and progressing the speed up to game speed, all the help get your body ready for the speed/forces made during the season.  Prepare that now and you will be better conditioned AND help prevent injury for your sport season.   Action Step:    make a list of all of the sport motions you will have to make, head to a speed coach, and ask for a plan on how to improve conditioning for these movements while adding speed HEALING INJURIES If you have any nagging injury, NOW is the time to get assessed and have a plan moving forward to help stay healthy during training and during the season.   Injuries are not always stemming from the area that you feel pain....so getting a full body assessment is a good idea.  Action Step:   contact a nearby MAT specialist and go over how your injury occurred and see if MAT can help MOVE FASTER Speed can be taught and should be taught all Summer long.  If speed mechanics are taught, along with effort, more plays can be made this year.  This also goes well with the BODY CONDITIONING section because moving progressively faster is a part of conditioning your body to tolerate the full speed actions of the sport.   Action Step:   call your speed coach and go over a Summer speed plan to help you move faster this Fall / Winter season CHANGE DIRECTION EASIER  Imagine changing direction smoothly and fluidly, that can be taught with a good step by step process.   There are arm mechanics involved, efficient foot patterns involved, as well as the correct lean/body posture.   If you commit to a speed program designed to help you change direction easier, plan on being faster and more agile in just a short amount of time.   Action Step:   local speed coaches can help so call around and ask if they help with agility training  SKILL WORK The skills for your sport are absolutely needed, just as much as getting your body conditioned and faster and healing injuries.   Sport skill work has to be part of your summer long plan.   Throwing, passing, catching, kicking, etc all need to be implemented.  Don't be the one who didn't work on your sport skill this summer!   Action Step:   have a plan on at least 3 times per week of working on your sport skill, either with a teammate or a coach, or by you If you have any questions or would like to set up an appointment, please click HERE or contact me at Will@truetraining.pro  Will Mieding  M.S., CSCS, RTS, MAT Rx 1227 Sagamore Parkway North Suite A 765-230-3770 www.truetraining.pro
