Back Pain Relief

Updated: Feb 24

The number 1 doctor visit is for  - back pain.   And no wonder.....our spine (and everything that comes with it) is very important so if there is limitations in anything around the spine, tightness or painful signals will show up - telling you to stop doing that thing until you get fixed again.

And if you keep going, back pain will get worse.  I bet you have noticed this already.

Here are 3 things you can to do help relieve back pain faster

For youth athlete training click HERE

1)  MUSCLE ACTIVATION TECHNIQUES ASSESSMENT

Having back pain could very well be stemming from back/spinal limitations.  However, it could also be stemming from hips, knees, feet...or even from a systemic issue.   So being assessed to find out where the limitations are stemming from is a good first step to ensure you are on the right track.  After the assessment, treatment can be done to help optimize those limited areas found in the assessment.

Action Step:  contact your nearest MAT Specialist and ask for an assessment

2)  REDUCE FORCES / MOTIONS...FOR NOW

Chances are the back pain came out about and is aggravated during excessive motions/positions you put yourself in to AND when you are under a load your body can't tolerate well.   So reducing those motions and forces, for now, would be a good idea until the healing process of MAT can begin and you can then build up your motions and forces afterwards.

Action Step:   begin to reduce forces and excessive positions that cause the back pain signals....just until you can tolerate the motions and positions better

3)  APPROPRIATE STRENGTHENING

Time to talk about strengthening....appropriate strengthening.  Once the MAT practitioner assesses you and shows you where your muscular limitations are stemming from, they can assist you in giving you exercises that can help build up those limited areas (along with treatment to help you get stronger, faster)

Action Step:   ask your MAT practitioner about exercises that can be utilized to help strengthen more appropriately so the chances of pain coming back get reduced
